- Summer 2008 promises to be very exciting and rewarding. I was raised in rural Kansas, near Highway 36. Every summer, I would see and sometimes visit with transcontinental bicyclists traversing Kansas on this well built but sparsely used road. I often dreamed of joining them. As a long-time bicycling enthusiast, this summer I plan to fulfill that adolescent dream. Starting June 15, I will bicycle from Florence, Oregon to Salem, Massachusetts. Through this blog, you're invited to join me. My wife, Mary will drive support. Combining bicycling and my work, I am dedicating my efforts to the goal of raising $100,000 for charitable services through the Pine Rest Iowa clinics. Glad to hear you are wisely rewarding yourself with some rest days Cal - I was concerned about that. And its interesting to read you and Mary's perspectives/experiences regarding the trip. May the headwinds prevail at your back!
